Purified Water Equipment

Purified water equipment is used to produce pure water to meet the needs of various industries, commonly in the chemical and industrial sectors. The entire system of purified water equipment is constructed from stainless steel materials, and sterilization devices must be installed before water usage points. Utilizing advanced processes such as reverse osmosis and EDI, customized high-purity water treatment systems are designed to meet the water requirements for pharmaceutical purification and large-volume infusion production.

Main Functions of Purified Water Equipment

Multi-Media Filter

Multi-media filter tanks are typically filled with filter materials such as quartz sand, anthracite, and manganese sand. Their primary function is to reduce water turbidity and remove a significant amount of bacteria, organic matter, and other impurities, creating favorable conditions for subsequent disinfection processes. Manganese sand is particularly effective in removing iron and manganese.

Activated Carbon Filter Tank

Activated carbon, with its extensive micropores and large specific surface area, possesses strong physical adsorption capabilities. It effectively adsorbs impurities in water, especially organic matter and microorganisms. The oxygen-containing catalytic oxidation and chemical adsorption functions on the surface of activated carbon can remove certain metal ions from water. Additionally, activated carbon adsorbs residual chlorine in water to protect downstream stainless steel equipment and pipelines and meet the inlet water requirements of subsequent water treatment units.

Automatic Backwashing and Regenerating Softening Tank

The softening tank is filled with sodium-type cation exchange resin. Through ion exchange reactions, the resin reduces water hardness, preventing calcium and magnesium ions from combining with carbonate and sulfate ions and forming scale in subsequent water treatment equipment or pipelines.

Precision Filter

The precision filter, also known as a safety filter, typically has a filtration accuracy of 5μm. Its function is to capture all particles larger than 5μm to meet the inlet water requirements of the reverse osmosis system.

Reverse Osmosis

The key to reverse osmosis technology lies in the performance of the reverse osmosis membrane, which acts as a desalination agent. The reverse osmosis membrane is a semi-permeable membrane that allows water molecules to pass through while blocking solutes. In addition to the principles of reverse osmosis, this technology utilizes membrane selective adsorption and a sieving mechanism for organic matter. The pore size of reverse osmosis membranes is mostly ≤10×10⁻¹⁰m, targeting ions and organic molecules with molecular weights of a few hundred.

Overview of Purified Water Treatment System

Water for biological use has extremely strict requirements, as the human body is highly sensitive to endotoxins in pharmaceuticals. Typically, distillation is used for biological water. Leveraging its advantages and extensive practical experience, Pure Water One has developed a series of reverse osmosis membrane-based equipment for biological water treatment. This purified water equipment employs world-class reverse osmosis components, pressure vessels, and other devices, combined with rational pretreatment and advanced desalination units, ensuring that the product water quality fully complies with GMP standards. The system supports manual and automatic operation, enabling automatic control of raw water pumps, high-pressure pumps, and pure water pumps, as well as automatic start/stop, rinsing, dry-run protection, high/low-pressure protection, thermal protection, and liquid level control.

GMP Requirements for Process Water Equipment:

1. Structural design should be simple, reliable, and easy to disassemble and assemble.

2. To facilitate disassembly, replacement, and cleaning of parts, the design of actuators should prioritize standardized, universal, and systematic components.

3. The inner and outer surfaces of the equipment should be smooth, flat, and free of dead corners for easy cleaning and sterilization. Parts should be treated with chrome plating or similar surface treatments to resist corrosion and prevent rust. The exterior of the equipment should avoid paint to prevent peeling.

4. Purified water equipment should be made of low-carbon stainless steel or other materials verified not to contaminate water quality. Equipment for producing purified water should be cleaned regularly, and the cleaning effectiveness should be validated.

5. Purified water storage tanks should be made of stainless steel or other materials verified to be non-toxic, corrosion-resistant, and free of leaching pollutants. The tank vent should be equipped with a hydrophobic sterilizing filter that does not shed fibers. The inner wall of the tank should be smooth, with no dead corners or pinholes in connections and welds. Sensors for monitoring parameters such as liquid level, temperature, and pressure should not cause stagnant water contamination. Storage tanks should be cleaned, disinfected, and sterilized regularly, with validation of the cleaning and sterilization effectiveness.

6. Purified water should be transported using stainless steel pumps that are easy to disassemble, clean, and disinfect. A circulating pipeline system is recommended. Pipeline design should be simple, avoiding blind pipes and dead ends. Pipes should be made of stainless steel or other materials verified to be non-toxic, corrosion-resistant, and free of leaching pollutants. Valves should be sanitary-grade with no dead corners, and the flow direction of purified water should be clearly marked. Pipes and pumps for transporting purified water should be cleaned, disinfected, and sterilized regularly, and validated before use.
